Crios de Susana Balbos 2006 Torontes

Cafayete, Argentina

13.5%

$18-$20

This is a delicious, full-bodied white made in Argentina from the unusual Torontes grape. It’s a sensual white wine with aromas of flowers and sweet lychee fruit, plus enough acidity and roundness to make it the perfect match to fish and seafood meals, grilled pork tenderloin or poultry. At $18 it’s a bargain and a wine that will have your guests guessing.

Tasting the best in the world of wine and spirits is another of Cinda’s passions and pastimes - travel along to the wine regions of Soave and Stellenbosch, Napa and Niagara , sip gin in Plymouth, Scotch along the Spey, an original Caesar in Calgary, and Pisco Sours in Chile. It’s all about tasting the best.

WHAT’S DRINKING WELL NOW:

I’m just now enjoying a bottle of White Bear Sauvignon Blanc, a zingy herbaceous white from Artisan Wine Co. In partnership with several environmental organizations, the 100% Okanagan wine is being sold to raise awareness and funds for the long term preservation of the Great Bear Rainforest on B.C.’s central coast, and for the preservation of the white Spirit Bear’s habitat. I’m headed out to the coast in August, and plan to stay at the Spirit Bear Lodge to, hopefully, capture a rare white bear in photos. Meanwhile, this eco-friendly wine is my summer white.
